Move of XavierMedia.com to new servers

Today at 18:20 CET we started the migration of XavierMedia.com to new servers.  We’ve already moved some of the smaller sites we have (like this one for example) to the new servers with success, but since XavierMedia.com is our biggest and most complex site it’s going to be more complicated than any of our other sites.

We hope everything will go nice and smoothly, but if you notice something that isn’t working as it should, please feel free to contact us.

Tomorrow at this time when the Name Servers have updated the IP addresses for XavierMedia.com everyone should be able to see the new site. Enjoy!

The move to new servers will allow us to develop new and even cooler services than ever, so stay tuned for the releases we will do over the coming months. One new service we’ve already launched is the developers we site where we will collect all information about our services for developers and our APIs. At the moment we have only described 3 APIs, but there will be more in the future

On the 3rd of December 1996 Xavier Media® was founded and the first service that was launched was free email at XavierMail.com. Tomorrow Xavier Media is turning sweet 16 and to celebrate that we’re giving away free gifts to all our fans.

IE6 no more

3700 people in UK is asking the UK government to replace IE6 as the web browser when people surf on external pages. This will put some pressure on most of the other European countries to start similar campaigns to replace IE6 or use other web browsers when surfing externally. Read more…

Blog Action Day: Climate Change

Today it’s time for the yearly Blog Action Day when bloggers should write about the same subject. The subject for 2009 is Climate Change and Xavier Media Group is of course writing about that today.

At XavierMedia.com you can read about web hosting powered by renewable green energy (like for example energy produced by wind power plants). By selecting a web hosting company that powers their servers a “green” way you reduce the CO2 impact on the environment.

Our other blog XavierMedia.org is writing about how Xavier Media is saving money by only using energy produced by wind power plants at the office. To save money at the same time as you reduce the need for CO2 produced energy is a great way of doing some change.

If you have a blog and haven’t joined Blog Action Day it’s still not too late, you can still write about climate change!

If you don’t have a blog yet it could be a good idea to start one already today so you’re prepared for Blog Action Day next year.
